Economic Development

The goals of economic development are to support regional revitalization, promote a climate within the region that encourages citizen involvement, open dialogue and innovation; stimulates job creating investments through funding sources; and encourages the region to think beyond their immediate area and actively build connections with a wide range of economic partners.

Strategies for economic development must improve the capacity of the region to plan and implement initiatives. Small communities serve a major role in the economic, social and cultural well being of the Province as a whole. Many small communities serve as hubs of commerce, tourism and springboards of entrepreneurship. They provide outlets for recreation and give focus to civic and cultural life. Residents and businesses pull together and help define what it is to be a community within the region.
